Week of the Young Child
Albemarle Smart Start Partnership is celebrating the Week of the Young Child.
This is an annual celebration that was established in 1971 by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. This year’s theme is The Early Years Are Learning Years. The Week of the Young Child brings to attention the needs of young children and their families, while highlighting the early childhood education programs and services available. It is a time to recognize that children’s opportunities are the community’s responsibilities, and to recommit to ensuring that each and every child experiences the type of early environment – at home, at child care, at school, and in the community – that will promote their early learning and their later success.
