Scholarship Subsidies

Child Care Provider Requirements

Albemarle Smart Start Partnership offers subsidy scholarships to eligible families seeking child care.  The ASSP Scholarship Program will recruit quality child care providers to serve as Scholarship providers. To qualify a child care provider must:

  • Be licensed by the State of North Carolina; provisional licenses are not considered.
  • Admit children regardless of their race, religion, gender, creed, color, or national origin
  • Agree to have their information listed on ASSP’s CCR&R NACCRRAware database.
  • Must have and maintain a 3,4,5 star-rated license or religious-sponsored (G.S.110-106),

No probationary or provisional licenses will be accepted.

ASSP will pay the statewide market rate to approved providers for child care services rendered to eligible Scholarship children.

ASSP also offers an Enhanced Scholarship to families of infants and toddlers (30 months and younger) who receive the Subsidy Scholarship AND have their child enrolled in a four or five-star licensed facility already participating in the scholarship program.
