Smart Start is North Carolina's nationally recognized and award-winning early childhood initiative designed to ensure that young children enter school healthy and ready to succeed.

Implements quality standards, increases access for families, and collaborates to promote enhanced service delivery of care and education across the state.

The Office of Early Learning supports pre-kindergarten programs throughout North Carolina, in public schools and licensed child care centers.  The Office of Early Learning promotes high-quality early childhood educational opportunities that children need in order to be ready for school success. 

North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation
To further their efforts in infant mortality reduction, as well as improve the health of women and children statewide, Foundation activities are concentrated in five distinct areas: community grants, public education campaigns, materials development and distribution, technical assistance and advocacy.

Child Care Aware
A program of the National Association of Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), Child Care Aware helps families learn more about the elements of high-quality child care and how to locate programs in their communities. Child Care Aware also provides child care providers with access to resources for their child care programs. 

American Academy of Pediatrics
An organization of 60,000 pediatricians committed to the attainment of optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.

National Association for the Education of Young Children
Dedicated to improving the well-being of all young children, with particular focus on the quality of educational and development services for all children from birth through age eight.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency's jurisdiction. 

Born Learning
Born Learning is a public engagement campaign that helps parents, grandparents and caregivers explore ways to turn everyday moments into fun learning opportunities.
